Tranquil Seasons is now Rooted Birth San Antonio Doula Collective! Tranquil Seasons has been serving expecting families in SATX for the last 10 years. We’ve had the pleasure of journeying with so many families in our community! In 2020, we want to keep doing just that: nurturing families in the prenatal and postpartum period, and providing excellent care through this huge life transition.

I don’t think we were meant to go through this life alone. We need each other, and I believe that’s just as true in pregnancy, birth, and parenthood as well. There are long standing traditions of women supporting one another as they bring new life into the world. When everything around us is changing, we can be rooted together, sharing wisdom and experience in support of the new mother. This is why I wanted to become a doula and why I chose the name Rooted Birth.

A labor doula is a companion who supports a pregnant person and their partner during labor, birth, and postpartum. In pregnancy, the doula is available to answer pregnancy and delivery related questions, help you form a birth plan, encourage communication and collaboration with your care providers, and foster connection with your partner as you plan and prepare together for your baby's birth. During labor and delivery, your doula is with you constantly during active labor, suggests comfort measures, preserves the environment you desire for labor, encourages you when the going gets tough, and supports your partner as they support you. Your partner knows you, and your doula knows birth, so together they make a great team! Your doula is also there immediately postpartum to assist with breastfeeding and bonding after baby is born. After you bring your baby home, your doula will visit to assess breastfeeding, bonding, and encourage you and your partner in your new roles as parents. I love this Evidence Based Birth article which details many more roles of doulas and the evidence to support their value as part of your birth team.

A postpartum doula quickly becomes a part of your family. They provide daytime or overnight care in the comfort of your own home. They work with you to create rhythms in your home, provide opportunities for rest for new parents, and encourage you in your new role. We feel that the right support can really make a difference in your confidence levels and how you feel parenting is going. Our Certified Postpartum Doulas love to see families thriving!

You already have everything you need to be a fantastic parent. Whether this is your first pregnancy, or your fifth, your birth team can work together beautifully to support you in pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, and parenting. Let's get coffee and chat about how we can help you thrive in this transition!
